More Than 300 Feature and Cover Cars, Pin-Stripers, Performance Car Ride & Drives, Celebrity Appearances and More


POMONA, CALIF. (March 8, 2013) - The HOT ROD Homecoming Car Show will bring the hottest cars in Hot Rod Magazine history to the Pomona Fairplex Saturday, March 23 and Sunday, March 24. This hot rod extravaganza will offer showgoers a once in a lifetime, up-close look at hundreds of the coolest Hot Rod Magazine feature and cover cars - the largest gathering in history! HOT ROD Homecoming is presented by Chevrolet Performance and co-sponsored by Edelbrock. 


From Phil Cool's '78 "America's Most Beautiful Roadster" winner and Phil Dolman's January 1981 cover car '55 sedan to the recently partially recreated Eastwood/Barakat Deuce sedan, HOT ROD Homecoming is the place to see more than 300 legendary cover cars up close, a once in a lifetime opportunity. Joining the lineup all the way from Australia will be the '33 Vern Luce coupe - Boyd Coddington's seminal billet rod. Owners Gary and Wendy Brown will fly this iconic hot rod, which was recently restored to its July 1981 cover condition, for all to see.


In addition to more than 300 Hot Rod Magazine feature and cover cars, the HOT ROD Homecoming will host several exciting features including:


  • Show Car Alley - Check out hundreds of rare, classic cars and vintage rides in this outdoor display including Street Rods from the 1930s; 1955 Chevrolets; muscle cars from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s; and much more! Locals can register their own classic cars and be a part of Hot Rod Magazine's signature event! 
  • Chevrolet Performance Car Ride & Drive - Showgoers are invited to take a spin in a Chevrolet Performance Car with a professional driver on a racing obstacle course. Hot new Chevrolet model vehicles will be available for this special test drive event!
  • Pin-Striper Panel Jam - Meet Pin-striping Legend Bob Spina and his team of pin-stripers who will pin-stripe auto memorabilia all weekend long at the HOT ROD Homecoming. Attendees are invited to purchase custom pin-striped panels, or bring their own items to have them pin-striped with fun colors and stylish designs.
  •  Hot Rodding Icons Courtney Hansen and Linda Vaughn Appearance - Hot Rod legend Linda Vaughn and television host Courtney Hansen will greet fans and sign autographs, in the Chevrolet Performance display, on Saturday, March 23, from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, March 24, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. As the iconic Miss Hurst Golden Shifter, Linda is considered the Queen of Motorsports, and Courtney is best known for hosting Overhaulin', Powerblock and Million Dollar Motors.
  • Pro-Builder Showcase - Don't miss custom built cars from some of the hottest professional car builders in the country. 
  • Miss HOT ROD Homecoming Pin-Up Contest - Contestants will compete throughout the weekend for the coveted title of Miss HOT ROD Homecoming, a trophy and cash prize. Celebrity judges include Linda Vaughn and Courtney Hansen who will judge contestants on their poise, outfit, personality and audience appeal. Round one will take place on Saturday, March 23, at 3 p.m. and the final round will take place on Sunday, March 24, at 1 p.m.
  • Live Bands - Showgoers will enjoy music from live bands throughout the weekend including fun tunes from Margate and Hot Rod Trio.
  • Vendor Midway - Dozens of industry leaders will showcase a variety of car accessories, products and services throughout the weekend. 
  • Congresswoman Gloria Negrete McLeod - On Saturday, March 23, at 4:15 p.m., Congresswoman McLeod will present the Congressional Certificate of Recognition to Hot Rod Magazine staff at the main stage.
  • Editor's Top 5 Show Car Awards - Hot Rod Magazine will select their top five cars at the HOT ROD Homecoming and feature these award-winning vehicles in an upcoming issue of the magazine. This special awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, at 3:15 p.m.
  • The weekend will also feature a special Hot Rod Magazine 65th birthday party; Hot Rod legends autograph signings; Hot Rod trivia games with giveaways and more!
  • Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum - Admission to this special museum is included with each HOT ROD Homecoming ticket purchase. (The museum is located on-site, at the Pomona Fairplex.)


The HOT ROD Homecoming Car Show will take place Saturday, March 23, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Pomona Fairplex, located at 1101 W. McKinley Avenue in Pomona, Calif.  Register a car for the show or buy advance discount tickets at Advance car registration is $50 plus a $3.50 handling fee through Friday, March 15. Registration is also available on-site for $75 Friday, March 22 from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Advance tickets available online are $18 for adults and $5 for children (6-12). Kids 5 and under are free.
